This price is for two people. For additional visitors, we will charge an extra fee.

Tamanco is a campground in the green heart of the Costa da Prata, between Porto and Lisbon. A unique base to explore the center of Portugal. Visit the many special monuments and places in the region, browse local markets, discover Portuguese cuisine and drink ‘um cafézinho’ in one of the many pastelarias. Go hiking in pristine green or along the secluded beaches or endless sand dunes that stretch from Figueira de Foz to Nazaré, which with the highest waves in the world, can rightfully be called the mecca for surf enthusiasts.

Tired of being on the road or being stuck in the concrete jungle? Come and share a wildcamping spot at Tamanco. Be surrounded by organic vegetable gardens, forest feel & fruit orchards. Tamanco is not just like any campsite. We care about nature.
We want, with you, to change the way we connect with nature, in the little things of everyday life, respecting it, taking care of it, saving resources, cultivating, making this idea a constant in our life!

Enjoy your freedom at Tamanco. Take a stroll on the campsite, connect with nature, hug the cats, enjoy the pool, get inspired by our workshop or give a second life to a dress from the "vintage store".

FREE RANGE CAMPING MANIFESTO!
-If you are concerned about health and safety best not come here.
With campfires, animals, rope swings maybe even some mosquitoes or ants there is just too much to worry about!
-We have purposely avoided attempting to duplicate the conveniences of home. Learn to enjoy the luxury of simplicity.
-Roam free and feel the outdoors. At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.
-Need a distraction from your racing thoughts? The numerous songbirds, traffic noise, church bells and the neighbour’s dogs are at your service, anytime.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your spot up to 7 days before arrival, you will be refunded 100% of the rental price, but not the service fee. If you cancel the booked spot less than 7 days before the planned arrival, no refund will be made.

About me

We are Irene and Hans, the owners of O Tamanco.
More than 20 years ago we made the move from Eindhoven in the Netherlands and have been putting our heart and soul into the little patch that is our unique campsite.

Over the years we have tried to give the site its own identity. It’s set up spaciously and the vegetation provides plenty of variety: figs, mimosa, bougainvillea, fruit trees, cacti etc. The smell of shrubs and orange blossom floats through the air. Cabins and a swimming pool are nettled in the greenery and roosters crow.

Personal relationships with locals and guests, sustainability and appreciating the beauty in every detail are all important to us and we try to uphold and convey these values in our work.

Sehr angenehmer Campingplatz. Gute Stellplätze und die Sanitärenanlagen waren auch gut.

Ein fast unberührt wirkender Campingplatz, im Oktober nur etwa zur Hälfte besetzt. Auch wenn die sehr geschäftsmäßig wirkende Dame am Check-In und die Sanitäreinrichtungen nicht unbedingt der Reise wert sind, der Ort ist es. Besonders für Roadsurfer

🙄: die Autobahn ist keinen Kilometer entfernt und das markante Glockenspiel der nahen Kirche (22-6 Uhr) 🙄
🤗: um 9h frische Brötchen und ein kleiner Unterstand mit frischem Gemüse aus dem Garten und frische Eier.
